Media Persons Visit GEM Kaniha

Talcher:NTPC Kaniha today organised Media Appreciation session on the ongoing Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2023 at NTPC Kaniha to apprise the media persons about the country wide initiative of the company.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri K S Sundaram, Executive Director,NTPC Talcher Kaniha described the programme as a game changer in the life of the participants as it had the potential of unveiling the hidden talents of the little girls.
He said that NTPC was conducting GEM residential workshop at 41 location in the country which was benefiting 2700 plus girls.Around 120 girls of class six from 20 nearby schools are participating in the 4 week residential workshop at NTPC Kaniha. The workshop is free of cost for the participating students.
The participating girls of GEM 2023 performed a live presentation of song and dance & Marshal Arts at the township Recreation Centre, Deep Tarang in front of the news persons which received their appreciation and applause.
At the end of the year , one winter workshop would be organised for these girls where their progress would be evaluated and best ten performers would be offered free education up to Class-XII in township schools.
The media persons were given an overview of GEM programme and taken to the GEM centre at Kendriya premises to get a glimpse of the classroom and the various activities being done by the GEM participants. Media persons also interacted with the students, enquired about what they had learned in the workshop and answered their queries relating to opportunity and scope in journalism.
Among others,Shri A K Sehgal, GM(O&M) , Shri Satya Rama Krishna,GM (AHD) and Shri Rafiqul Islam,AGM(CSR) and Shri B K Pandey,AGM(HR) were present on the occasion.
