BERHAMPUR:“Hotel Mayfair Gopalpur sealed for 7 days for violation of social distancing for arrangement of marriage. We won’t tolerate these type of violations. We again request all to follow social distancing norms & don’t put your life in risk in corona scenario,” tweeted DGP Odisha.
The action of the district administration came after gross violation of Covid-19 guidelines has been reported from Gopalpur in Ganjam district after a video of the marriage ceremony held on Thursday showing the participants dancing together without maintaining social distancing and wearing masks went viral on social media.
Berhampur Police arrested five persons including a groom who was part of a marriage procession inside a hotel premises in Gopalpur area of Ganjam district.
A case under section 188/269/270 of IPC R/W Sec 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act and 34 of IPC has been registered at Gopalpur Police Station for gross violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
SP,Berhampur stated in his tweet, in an incident of violation of COVID Guidelines for organizing a Marriage Procession inside Hotel Premises disregarding the compulsory use of Mask and flouting Social Distancing norms.
In Connection Gopalpur police have registered a case vide the PS Case-95, dt: 04/07/2020 U/S 188/269/270 IPC R/W Sec- 3 Epidemic Disease Act, and 34 IPC has been registered.
Five persons have been arrested. Two vehicles used in the marriage procession have been seized. District Administration is also taking steps to seal the Hotel for violating Covid Guidelines.The accused persons identified as, Krishna Chandra Sahu, Sibarama Sahu,Santosh Sahu, Binod Chandra Sahu and Deepak Sahu according to SDPO, Sadar.
