Mainuddin Convicted and Sentenced to Undergo RI for 20 Years

Bhubaneswar:On Thursday Sri Dipti Ranjan Kanungo, Hon’ble Dist. & Sessions Judge cum Spl. Judge, Bhawanipatna Dist. Kalahandi convicted one accused person namely Mainuddin S/o. Ainuddin of Jamuwara , Narayani , Banda ( Uttar Pradesh) U/s. 20(b)(ii)(C)/29 NDPS Act, 1985 in STF PS Case No.01/2018 arising out of Bhawanipatna Sadar PS Case No. 72/2018. The accused was convicted and sentenced to undergo RI for 20 Years & to pay fine of 2 Lakhs & in default RI for 01 year.

In this case on 23.03.2018 at 9.00 AM the interstate drug peddlers while transporting contraband Ganja in a truck bearing Regd. No. MP-17-HH-1053 from Semilguda side via Satiguda Chhak to Raipur, Bhawanipatna Police intercepted the vehicle at Madingpadar Chhak. During search of the vehicle huge quantity of Ganja weighing 3894 Kg Ganja and Cash of Rs. 57000/- were recovered and seized from the possession accused persons Irfan Khan and Maiuddin. After successful investigation, charge sheet was submitted against the accused persons U/S 20(b)(ii)(c)/29 NDPS Act,1985. Initially, the case was registered at Bhawanipatna Sadar PS vide case No. 72/2018 and subsequently STF has taken over the investigation.

Trial was conducted against above noted accused persons, where during trial prosecution has examined 20 witnesses. The seized contraband ganja has already been destroyed as per order of the Hon’ble Court.
