Berhampur 25th March 2023: Diabetes is increasing in prevalence across the globe. Indians tend to get affected with Diabetes and its complications at least a decade earlier than western counterparts. To make people aware of various aspects of Diabetes, today Diabetes & Endocare Clinic, Berhampur in association with LIC, Berhampur Division has organized 2nd Edition of Madhumeha Panchayat, an awareness and question, answer session for general public at Diamond Jubilee Town Hall, Berhampur. Dr Sunil Kumar Kota, Consultant Endocrinologist was the moderator for the session, where Sri Chandra Sekhar Sahu, Honorable MP, Berhampur was invited as the Chief Guest. Sri Bikram Panda, Honorable MLA, Berhampur; Smt Sanghamitra Dalei, Honorable Mayor, Berhampur; Prof Prafulla Chandra Mohanty, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Khallikote Unitary University; Prof Abani Kanta Mishra, Dean and Principal, MKCG Medical College and Sri Srikanta Dara, Senior Divisional Manager, LIC, Berhampur graced the event as guests of honor. Dr Sruti Jammula, Director, Roland Group of institutes anchored the event and introduced the guests to the august audience. Sri Chandra Sekhar Sahu raised the concern about rising prevalence of Diabetes and other non-communicable diseases calling for Lifestyle modification as a preventive strategy. Sri Bikram Panda called for action at Govt level to pick Diabetes at an early stage for better treatment and avoidance of complications. Smt Sanghamitra Dalei stressed upon the fact that no one is immune from lifestyle disorders and everyone should be careful about same. All the Revered dignitaries thanked Dr Sunil Kota for his unending and noble endeavors in educating the masses about Diabetes, especially in dispelling the myths.
Following the inauguration ceremony, an expert panel of 10 doctors adorned the stage; question and answer session with general public ensued. The panel consisted of experts in Diabetes and its allied specialities including endocrinologist Dr Sunil Kota, Physicians Dr Prakash Ch Patra, Dr J Bharatudu, Dr Uma Shankar Mishra, Dr Nihar Ranjan Sahoo, Nephrologist Dr Amalendu Jena, Cardiologist Dr Sunanda Mohanty, Neurologist Dr Anand Sastry, Ophthalmologist Dr Pravin Subudhi, Psychiatrist Dr Swati Mishra. All total more than 250 people from LIC and other various walks of life joined the session and engaged with the panel of expert doctors for more than 2 and half hours clarifying their queries on various aspects of Diabetes. Among others, Smt J Jayalakshmi, Chairperson, Roland Institutes; Sri B N Pattanaik, Principal, Delhi Public School; Sri Prasant Dash, Manager LIC; Dr Niranjan Patro, Vice Principal, Roland Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Dr Sanjit Acharya, Vice Principal, Roland institute of technology were present in the audience. Dr Sagar Tripathy lauded all the experts for giving their valuable time for this awareness program. Sri Prafulla Mohantyrequested Dr Kota for making this program annual one with involvement of more experts and people for betterment of the society. Lastly Sri Ranjan Swain, Principal, Parala Maharaja Engineering College concluded the session by profusely thanking Dr Sunil Kota and his team of volunteers for such an wonderful organization
