LPG Cylinder Explodes in Khallikote; Houses of 3 Families Gutted in Massive Fire
Berhampur: Houses of at least three families were gutted in a fire caused by the explosion of a cooking gas cylinder at Kamalapadar village under Khallikote police station limits in Ganjam district.
At least 10 rooms of the three families were reduced to ashes in the blaze.
Luckily, no one was injured in the accident as they managed to escape out in time. The incident occurred at around 4 am on Monday while the families were asleep.
After getting information, fire brigade rushed to the spot and doused the flames. But the houses of Kampa Jena, Bhuvani Pahana and Kuntula Pahana had been gutted by then.
While the reason for the LPG cylinder blast is yet to be ascertained. Neighbours heard the sound of the blast and managed to rescue the three families.
The fire caused by the blast in one of the houses spread to two other neighbouring houses, burning down the three houses.
Valuables worth lakhs of rupees including electronic goods, cash, crucial documents and groceries kept in the house, were reportedly reduced to ashes in the fire.
