ROURKELA:Rourkela, the Steel city of Odisha has been remained peaceful ever since the city is born and been very supportive to all guidelines and rules and regulations framed by the State or Central Govt. from time to time.
Now in the pandemic situation like, Corona, city is very much serious about to stop corona and to do it practically, local administration has taken enough steps to prevent corona virus to spread. In the process, Rourkela police is now becoming stricter on people moving out of home in the major Lockdown announced. Police has been announcing to stay at home but few people have taken it lightly and moving in the city without any hitches and purpose. Now in every chawk and lane police is patrolling and doing fines to people or bikers without any reason for their presence on road.
Recently local administration have issued some special pass to many people in service of essential items and now police is asking how their passes to prove their mobility legal (?).
Many volunteers and social organizations were also on street and moving in numbers to supply food and other essential items to the people in need but the local administration found it risky when they move in mass for the cause, hence, Rourkela Municipal Corporation have put out a circular, restricting this practice. Instead, if they want to give any food items/ food grains or cooked food for destitute or people who doesn’t have all this can handover the same to RMC officials by calling them over phone one day before their supply which will be taken to Madhusudan Bhawan at Chhend. And all these items should be in the form of packaged items. For cooked food they should hand over the items before 11 AM in case of Lunch and before 5.30PM in case of dinner. This has made applicable since 2nd April onwards. If any person has followed the due procedure and trying to cheat by not responding on time, then strict action will be taken. Local administration have also come hard on black marketers of essential items in many places and coming top on vendors who have not following the requisite guidelines prescribed for its customers to maintain social distancing.
Administration has also announced to take their essential items between 6am to 11am and rest of the time market will remain closed excluding vendors selling life saving items. This new move has come one day before Odisha has found its 4th COVID-19 patient at Bhubaneswar. After this news natives of the city have become more vigilant and practicing more to stay at home.
