LOCK-DOWN NORMS NOT FOR VVIP MARRIAGE OF GRANDSON OF FORMER PRIME MINISTER

Bureau,Odishabarta

DELHI:It refers to highly disturbing media-reports about VVIP marriage-ceremony of son of former Karnatak Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy (grandson of former Prime Minister HD Devegowda) was celebrated on 17.04.2020 bypassing lock-down norms of social-distancing etc. It is noteworthy that watchdog India media was restricted about 15 kilometres away from the wedding-venue evidently to prevent making media-coverage of violation of lock-down norms. It is noteworthy that on-going lock-down period is main marriage-season in India where most of the marriages are postponed or held with very few relations following all lock-down norms of social distancing and restricted gatherings.

Union Home Ministry should ask Karnataka government to send detailed report of the event and the circumstances under which vigilant media was not allowed to make media-coverage of the event. Even otherwise, authorities had no right to restrict media-entry at distance of 15 kilometres of the event because the area is a public place including road, and not personal property of family of former Karnatak Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy or former Prime Minister HD Devegowda. Exemplary stringent-most action is necessary against the guilty ones in case media-reports are true to establish that VVIP politicians are not above general public in eyes of law.
