LIVE PANGOLIN AND INCRIMINATING MATERIALS SEIZED BY STF

Bhubaneswar:On the basis of reliable information, STF team conducted a raid with the help of Ghess Forest Range officials under Baragarh Forest Division Dist. Baragarh near village Jamapalli PS. Sohela about a deal of sale of Live Pangolin by wild life criminals on 03.11.2021, as a result of which one accused person namely Makun @ Badal Baria S/o. Manabodh Baria of Jamapalli PS. Sohela Dist. Baragarh was apprehended. During search, 01 (One) Live Pangolin and other incriminating materials were seized from his possession. The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of Live Pangolin, for which he has been detained and handed over to Baragarh forest officials for necessary legal action at their end.
During last one year, Special drive against the wildlife criminals/poachers have been launched, STF has seized as many as 19 nos Leopard skin, 10 nos Elephant Tusk, 02 deer skin, 06 live pangolin and 15 kg pangolin scales and arrested 40 wild life criminals.
STF is the specialized wing of Odisha Police to curb the organized crime in the State. Wild life crimes remain the one of the focus area of STF and STF will continue its drive against the wild life crime and criminals.
