LIQUOR SHOULD BE SOLD ONLY ON AADHAR CARDS WITH ALL GOVERNMENT-PROVIDED SUBSIDIES WITHDRAWN ON PURCHASE OF LIQUOR.
Delhi: It refers to long queues violating social-distance norms turning into unmanageable crowds for purchase of liquor after liquor-shops opening 0n 04.05.2020 after a gap of about 45 days period of lockdown. Media-interviews and videos reflect that many in long queues were even availing facility of free ration and food during lockdown period. It was significant that people not having got salaries during lockdown surprisingly had money to purchase liquor.
A system needs to be formulated whereby purchase of liquor in future may be through personal Aadhar Cards of purchasers only that too with limited quota. Any purchase of liquor through Aadhar Card may be registered with appropriate authorities concerned with ration, LPG etc and subsidy on all such essential items may be automatically withdrawn on purchase of liquor. Sufficient safeguard may be ensured so that purchaser of liquor may not misuse Aadhar Cards of his family-member for continuing subsidy or free facility on essential items.
It is evident liquor shops were allowed to be opened even in red zones during third phase of lockdown for much-needed funds by governments, cent-percent corona-cess may be imposed on liquor. #Input;Subash Agarwal
