Link Illegal Manufacturing & Sale of fire arms today on STF net

BhubaneswarL:Basing on intelligence input regarding illegal manufacturing/ possession/ sale of illegal fire arms by some criminals of Dhenkanal district, a team of officers of STF conducted raid on the public road near village Bhapur under Dhenkanal district & intercepted two criminals namely 1) Kalandi Nayak S/o.Rabindra Nayak of Radhakrishnapur, P.S.-Khuntuni, Dist.-Cuttack and 2) Shyam Sundar Sitha S/o.Lt. Gobardhan Sitha of Baliamba, P.S.-Sadar, Dist.-Dhenkanal on 23.9.2021. During search heavy arms i.e. 09 Nos. country-made firearms and one country made revolver along with other incriminating materials were recovered from their possession.
In this connection STF PS case No.33 dated 23.09.2021 U/s. 25/27 Arms Act has been registered and investigation is on. Both the above noted persons were arrested and will be forwarded to the court. Investigation is on
During preliminary investigation, it is ascertained that seized country-made fire arms were manufactured by criminals of Dhenkanal district, who were involved in a number of cases related to illegal manufacturing of firearms in Dhenkanal Dist and other areas. Their identity has been established. Step is being taken to apprehend them.
Since 2020 drive against illegal arms & ammunitions have been conducted, STF has alone seized 56 nos of firearms and 91 rounds of live ammunitions .
