Light To Moderate Rain To Lash Coastal of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As Low-Pressure systems are active over the North Indian ocean, one of them is likely to trigger rainfall over many parts of coastal Odisha today, informed Bhubaneswar regional centre of the meteorological department.

Apart from the heavy rainfall forecast, the IMD has also sounded ‘Yellow Warning’ for thunderstorm with lightning for the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Boudh, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.

Reportedly, one Low-Pressure Area is active over the Bay of Bengal and the other over the Arabian Sea.The Bay of Bengal system is likely to trigger the light to moderate rain over many parts of coastal Odisha.

As predicted earlier, the system is also likely to trigger heavy rainfall at isolated places over coastal Odisha on October 16 and 17.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted heavy rainfall in five Odisha districts including, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri in the next 24 hours.

As per IMD, the Low-Pressure area over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha- north Andhra Pradesh coasts now lies over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height.
