Lakhs of Devotees in Puri to Have Darshan of Lord Jagannath On New Year
Puri: Lakhs of devotees have overcrowded the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri since Tuesday night to have darshan of the deities to start the New Year.
To facilitate the darshan by the lakhs of devotees, the gates of the temple were opened at 12.30 am.
Puri district administration and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) have made elaborate arrangements to ensure a smooth and disciplined darshan for the devotees.
According to Puri SP Vinit Agrawal, the temple is under strict security and a block-wise system has been implemented to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to anyone during darshan of deities.
Barricades have been put up from the Market Square to the temple to manage the flow of devotees. Ambulance services in place for health emergencies.
The entire holy city is under surveillance of the police through CCTV cameras installed at key locations.
Special traffic regulations and parking arrangements are in place to manage the flow of vehicles into Puri on New Year.
