KORAPUT:If women are strong, society will be strong. Therefore, the state government has provided various assistance to rural women through SSG.  Today, Kalajira rice in Koraput district has reached Delhi.  In the past, the aborigines used to use black cumin rice for traditional worship.  Also selling in and out of the district.  But the rice has now reached Delhi with the help of Ormas and the farmers have got a fair price.

Koraput district is a tribal-dominated district.  In this district, rural women used to work as coolies or labourers.  But now the picture is different.  Now the district is famous for its rice from Kalajira rice.  In the district, Kalajira has planted paddy and exported the rice to the capital, Delhi.  Even there, the demand for this black cumin rice is quite high.  In the village of Sabari SSG and Dangardei in Koraput district, a small mill in the SSG group village is produced by the government and produces a variety of natural products.  Out of this, Kalajira is selling rice from rice and selling it in Delhi at Rs 140 per kg.  It used to sell in the local area for Rs.  Not only this, with the help of beautiful brands such as mandia and turmeric they are sent to different states.  The peculiarity of Kalajira rice is that it smells more like other rice.  Black cumin is produced in organic matter, especially rice.  Swaminathan has warned farmers in different parts of Koraput district to cultivate Kalajira seeds.  The women of Machhara village in Koraput district have been trained by the government to pack the rice and sell it to the market, whether it is high-quality black cassava rice or Mandia and turmeric products.  Yesterday, 80/kg of rice was shipped to Delhi’s Saras Outlet for the first time, and it is planned to ship Kalajira rice every week, said Roshan Karthik, district commissioner of Ormas.  As a result, the women of Machhara village in Koraput district have become self-sufficient.
