JOURNALISTS DIED ON LANDMINE OF MAOIST IN KALAHANDI

KALAHANDI:On 5 February 2022 Journalist Rohit Biswal of Mohangiri tried to cover ground zero report regarding Mao Posters protesting the ensuing GP election and himself became news, due to death on the landmines blast near the poster.

Maoists had put posters against the upcoming General Panchayat Elections near Domkarlakhunta  bridge between M.Rampur and Mohangiri of Kalahandi district. It is a usual practice of Maoists to target Police personnel who come to remove the posters by Ambush firing or by planting explosives stated by kalahandi S.P. to the media person.

Nearby villagers heard a loud noise around 12 PM near the postering spot and later it was confirmed that Rohit Biswal, media correspondent who works for Dharitri media house who had gone close to the posters for a coverage had fallen prey to the anti-personnel land mine laid by Maoists, which the Maoists had laid for Police personnel, said by the Kalahandi S.P.

CRPF team , District Police , DVF and SOG are combing the area. Bomb disposal squad is securing the area. After sanitising the area , the mortal remains of News  Reporter Rohit Biswal has been shifted to M.Rampur hospital. His mortal remains will be handed over to his relatives. Further investigation is going on as stated by the Kalahandi S.P  Shravan Vivek M.

Meanwhile Odisha Govt has declared four Lakhs rupees from Journalists Welfare Fund and Nine Lakhs rupees from State police Fund has been sanctioned to the deceased Journalists family as stated by the State Media Advisor Mr. Manas Mangraj.
