Jindal Foundation Launches Natural Farming and Millet Cultivation Project in Angul
Angul : Pursuing to the vision of Sri Naveen Jindal , Chairman Jindal Steel & Power and Members of Parliament for propagation of natural farming across the Country , the Jindal Foundation, in collaboration with HDF-cDAR, launched an extensive Natural Farming and Millet Cultivation Project to empower farmers through eco-friendly farming practices that prioritize sustainability and health
The event, graced by prominent agricultural officials, scientists, and CSR leaders, emphasized the importance of natural farming for food security and environmental preservation.
Responding to the Union Budget proposals , Sri Naveen Jindal , 3rd time MP ( Loksabha ) from Kurukshetra had recently applauded the initiatives of the Union Govt to encourage natural farming for ensuring environmentally sustainable and health friendly agriculture in the Country.
Launching the initiative by Jindal Foundation at Angul , Yoga Guru Swami Satyabindu Saraswati from Jindal Steel and Power (JSP), advocated for adopting natural farming to ensure toxin-free, healthy living. He stressed that true prosperity comes from good health and wholesome food rather than wealth.
The first pilot phase of the project spans 200 acres—150 acres for millet and 50 acres for vegetable cultivation—in JSP ‘s peripheral villages. It also includes the establishment of 500 kitchen gardens and the plantation of 10,000 fruit-bearing saplings, promoting ecological restoration.
Technical sessions by experts like Mr. Anshuman Patnaik and Mr. Paresh Kumar Bhanja provided insights into zero-investment natural farming and pest management. Dr. Debasis Mishra, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Angul, shared his expertise on improving soil health and sustainable practices.
Key dignitaries present included Mr. Dilip Kumar Mishra, Chief District Agriculture Officer, Angul; Amber Lugunu, Deputy Director Horticulture, Angul; Ashutosh Roy, DDM-NABARD; Mr. Chandan Kumar Jena, LE-DMF; Rojalin Nayak, BAO-Banarpal; Mr. Amit Kumar Behera, Assistant Director, Soil Conservation; Mr. Nrusingha Charan Nayak, Project Director from HDF-cDAR; Mr. Sarat Kishore Panda, GM-HR & ES, JSP; Jayanta Kumar Mohanty, GM-CSR, JSP; and Mr. Ashutosh Mishra, DGM-CSR, JSP.
The event also brought together hundreds of farmer leaders from the periphery villages..
The event marked JSP’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship in a collaborative project mode.
During the course he the event, the IEC materials and a comprehensive booklet on natural farming were unveiled and tools and pest management materials were distributed to the farmers .
