Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar to Host Oath-Taking Ceremony for Odisha’s 1st BJP Government
Bhubaneswar: Odisha is gearing up for the historic oath-taking ceremony of its first BJP government, set to take place at Bhubaneswar’s Janata Maidan on June 10.
Governor Raghubar Das will administer the oath of office to the new chief minister and Cabinet ministers, with dignitaries like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah expected to attend, alongside chief ministers from NDA-ruled states.
Sources reveal that a dedicated team of 50 government officers, including 9 IAS officers, one OFS, and 40 senior OAS officers, has been tasked with organising the event. Led by Bhupinder Singh Punia, managing director of IDCO, they will convene on June 8 at Idco Tower to finalise arrangements.
Earlier statements from BJP’s state president, Manmohan Samal, indicate that the party’s parliamentary board will determine the chief minister’s name. The decision is expected after consultations between central leaders and state MPs, who have already departed for Delhi.
In the recently concluded elections, BJP secured a significant victory, claiming 78 out of 147 Assembly seats. Notably, the party opted not to project a chief ministerial candidate during the campaign, with Prime Minister Modi promising the selection of a ‘Bhoomiputra’ as CM, to be announced soon after polls.
