JAIL INMATES ON STRIKE TO SHIFT CORONA POSITIVE PATIENTS TFROM JAIL

ROURKELA: Recently three days back, 6 jail inmates were found corona positive and all these persons were arrested in a case of violence in Rourkela containment zone and kept in a separate cell purposely meant for quarantine purpose. And on a systematic manner swab testing has been conducted by the jail authority since all of them are from Containment zone. Now the other inmates of jail who are still not tested corona positive demanding these corona positive jail inmates to transfer them to Covid hospital. These corona positive persons are still undergoing treatment in the jail itself and they are also demanding the same. Other inmates also demand for tests for all including jail employees working there. Now the Jail authorities have written a letter to District Judge with keeping loop to District Collector, SP, Rourkela, Commissioner, RMC, ADM, Rourkela and Director Jail Administration.
In this jail many inmates are carrying different age group. Many inmates who are aged and continuing life sentence now worried for their health.
As per the information sought, few top Govt. officials have visited the jail and discussed with the inmates to drop ongoing hunger strike. They also assured them to take due actions very soon. Looking at the sensitiveness, Local administration has to take earliest action which is awaited by the jail inmates.
