International Women’s Day is celebrated in Koraput

Koraput: International Women’s Day is celebrated at the Koraput Skills Development Training Center.  The event was attended by the District Chief Medical Officer and Public Health Officer in charge, Dr.  Arun Kumar Padhi joined as the chief guest and inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp.  Additional District Welfare Officer NRC Chairperson Raj Kumari Patnaik, District Child Protection Officer Rajshree Das, Odisha Livelihood Mission’s Koraput Program Manager Seema Smaraki Roy and District Chief Hospital’s Sunita Jena, among others, were the chief guests.  The guests spoke on gender equality today for a sustainable future.  He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”.  The guests were of the opinion that women are great in every respect and that their place and commitment in society is certain.  Borigumma Child Development Program Officer Gayatri Bahinipati was awarded as the best child marriage officer in the district.  Sabitri Prabha Sahu was awarded as the Best Integrated Child Development Plan Visitor in the district and Jhunurani Mohanty as the best Anganwadi worker.  Two teenage girls were awarded as the best friends and companions in the district.  The program was moderated by Sucheta Panda, Program Officer, District Social Welfare Department, while Mamata Mohanty, District Nutrition Program Manager and Simarani Behera, Mamata Program Coordinator.  The food fair was held on this occasion.
