IMFA EXPLODES THE MYTH AMONG TRIBAL YOUTHS REGARDING BLOOD DONATION

Therubali, (Rayagada),24/11/19:Generally the tribal communities of Rayagada believe that their health will get seriously affected after donating blood. So, blood donors for multiple times is hardly seen in this tribal hinterland. Fortunately, Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Limited(IMFA), a premiere industrial set up at Therubali, Rayagada has been successful in exploding this taboo among the local tribal communities. Prior to its 58th Foundation day celebration, its CSR wing Bansidhar Ila Panda Foundation(BIPF) in collaboration with Ama Odisha and Blood Bank Rayagada organized a mega blood donation camp at Gopobandhu Nagar, Therubali. Smt.Kamala Hikaka Sarpanch of Therubali and Sri.K.Venketswar Rao , Vice-president IMFA-Therubali jointly inaugurated the camp. Kamala, herself a Kandha tribal, showcased the courage to donate blood and then scores of tribal youths followed her footprint. Sri Rao, who is the CEO of IMFA, Therubali, was not left behind when he volunteered for blood donation. IMFA employees also joined this tirade.
“As an usual activity under our CSR initiative, this is a regular phenomenon. Blood donation in the present context is certainly a nobe act; but working on social taboo is much more important and the local PRI members like Kamala and IMFA employees led by Er K V Rao are pathfinders”, said Sri Sakti Prasad Panigrahi, senior manager of IMFA.
The blood bank officer and his team facilated camp effectively and collected 61 units of Blood. The district manager of Ama Odisha attended programme along with Sri.A.K Behura, DGM. IMFA and other Sr.Executives. The program was coordinated by Dr.P.K.Kar, DGM (CSR) and organized by Sri.Shakti Prasad Panigrahi, Sr.Manager(PR). Sri Radhasyam Panda, a social worker of PALLI VIKASH, an NGO operating at Therubali, was present in the camp and encouraged the voluntary donors. The fist timers have expressed their excitement when recognised with certificates as Voluntary Blood Donors. The local public have applauded the inclusive efforts of IMFA-BIPF.
