IDEA TO INTRODUCE “HONEY-CUBES” FOR REPLACING SUGAR CUBES SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED SOON

DELHI:Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on 28.11.2019 informed Lok Sabha that Union Government will be encouraging honey-cubes to replace sugar-cubes with dual purpose of increasing job-opportunities for farmers and tribal, while giving a healthy alternative to replace traditional sugar-cubes. But the said idea has not yet been seen being implemented. In interest of public-health, production of honey-cubes should be encouraged and hotels, restaurants and clubs should be motivated for increased use of honey-cubes. Even though small packs of one-time use of honey are available in most hotels, yet introduction of convenient honey-cubes can only serve the purpose.

In the meanwhile till production of honey-cubes is in plenty, use of brown-sugar cubes or pouches should be encouraged which are not so harmful as are of white sugar. Hotels, restaurants and clubs should be directed to put display-board at important points advising customers to use brown-sugar instead of white sugar.
