ICAR-RCER, Patna to Host National Workshop on Greening Rice Fallow Areas and Review Meeting of Foreign-Aided Projects
Patna : Most of the rice fallow areas of the country are in eastern India (approx. 80%), which offers opportunity for sustainable intensification and future food production, especially pulses and oilseeds. To address sustainable intensification of rice fallow areas, the ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region , Patna will organize a two-day National Workshop on “Strategies and Approaches for Greening Rice Fallow Areas” on January 3-4, 2025. The workshop will bring together eminent experts, researchers, and practitioners to explore innovative solutions and sustainable strategies for transforming rice fallow lands into productive and eco-friendly landscapes. Progressive farmers will also share their ideas and views for developing the strategies for greening rice fallow area.
In parallel, ICAR-RCER will also host a Review Meeting of Foreign-Aided Projects under the Natural Resource Management (NRM) Division of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, on January 4, 2025.
Speaking about the events, Dr. Anup Das, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna said, “These initiatives aim to create a platform for stakeholders to share insights, foster collaborations, and develop strategies for sustainable agriculture with focus on holistic development of rice fallow areas. This is vital for enhancing agricultural productivity while addressing ecological challenges in the eastern region of India.”
The workshop will address critical issues related to optimizing the utilization of rice fallow lands, while the review meeting will evaluate the progress, impact and develop the future work plan of foreign-aided projects under the NRM Division.
These concurrent events underscore ICAR-RCER’s commitment to advancing agricultural research and innovation to address the unique challenges faced by the eastern region of India in a partnership mode.
