HUGE QUANTITY OF FIRECRACKERS SEIZED IN GANJAM

BERHAMPUR: Ahead of Diwali, police seized a huge quantity of firecrackers and arrested three persons in this connection in Nalabanta village under Aska police limit in Ganjam.

According to IIC, Aska Prashant Kumar Sahoo, based on credible information about possession of firecrackers, a team of Aska police conducted raids.

During the raid conducted at village Nalabanta against illegal manufacturing and selling of crackers and bombs, huge quantities of firecrackers , finished crackers, bombs ,Kumpi, Phulajhari ,Photoka, Chakri, Mercury torch ,Jhuri , long short , Lara , Mathapi, colour short, Akashdeep, high explosive bombs , raw materials, gun powder, palm leaf , raw explosives , nitrogen powder, Sulphur powder, charcoal, iron cylinder, and 08 mini trucks. The cost of the seizure was more than Rs 70 lakh, on spot by seeing the Cop 12 people have managed to escape narrowly.

The accused persons had stored the firecrackers inside the houses in unsafe condition without taking any precautionary measure, SDPO, Suryamani Pradhan.

As the trio failed to produce authenticated documents regarding possession of such firecrackers, the police seized all the explosive items and apprehended the accused persons, Pradhan said today.
