Berhampur,(11/02/2026):For the convenience of women with infants coming to police seeking help, today, IGP, Southern Range, Niti Sekhar,IPS, inaugurated the child-friendly police station at Berhampur Gosaninuagaon Police station.
With this smiley function while addressing to children’s and to their parents IG, Mr. Sekhar said, Whenever any child accompanying a complainant or any aggrieved person comes to the police station, they can use the space for their comfort.any child while having any form of interaction with Police at police stations is entitled to an amiable environment and sensitive policing.

To this effect , Child-Friendly Police Stations (CFPS) have been set up by Government of Odisha to provide such dedicated space for children aimed to integrate a friendly ambience and a genial approach, enabling reporting without fear, discomfort, or confusion.Rarther Say “ Hello Police Uncle,Helo Mam”.
Berhampur SP Dr Saravana Vivek M, told to the children’s how to grow their confidence on police and different teachable tips to the children’s.
Child-friendly physical infrastructure has been integrated with strengthened capacities of the police personnel to ensure that the rights of children coming into the interface with the police are protected.
The initiative aims at creating a child-friendly space in the Gosaninuagaon police station. It includes CFPS have interiors decorated with animated murals, small library with cartoons and animated stories, beds, chairs, soft toys for children, first aid kitset. A separate space to ensure privacy to mothers for breast feeding has also been provided.
Information related to children’s rights and ‘dos and don’ts’ for police is vividly displayed along with name of child welfare police officer, help lines etc.
So far in Berhampur police district earlier during September 2022, two police stations have been declared as child friendly police station. Mahila PS, Gopalpur PS and today GosaninuagaonPolice station. PS.
Among others, additional SPs, SDPO Town, IIC of Gosaninuagaon police station and other officer’s local body and media persons were present during the inaugural function.
