Herbal Fair Draws Crowds at Berhampur

Berhampur:The footfall to the Kalinga Herbal Fair here is Berhampur City any indication, there seems to be craze for ayurvedic treatment among people. Even youths are seen making a beeline for ayurvedic medicines. said by Chandra Sekhar Sahu,Honable’MP,Berhampur joining as chief guest on 1st Mar at City High School Ground in evening.

The five-day fair which opened on Monday  has been organised by Regional Conservator of Forest,Berhampur,Odisha in association with Berhampur forest division to provide market linkage to traders of tranditional medicines.

“The herbal medicines have no side effects,” said MLA, Berhampur,Bikram Panda, who joined as another guest of the function. Panda suggested development of a herbal garden in Berhampur to create awareness among the people on ayurvedic medicines.

The fair has above 50-stalls. Vaidya Sanghas and ayurvedic medicine manufacturing companies from across the Ganjam District are taking part.

“It will not only promote sale of herbal products but also create awareness among people for conservation of medical plants,” said regional chief conservator of forests, Prashant Kumar Mishra.

Speaking to huge audience DFO, Berhampur Amlan Nayak said, the duration of the fair was schedule for five days. In case of public demand this may  increased from 5 days to 10 days. Seminars, workshops and cultural programmes are being organised on the sidelines of the Mela.,he added.

The Collector Ganjam Vijay Amruta Kulane, Ms.Sonam Polai, Chairperson,Zilla Parisad,PD DRDA, Sidnhe Duttaraya Bhausaheb,BeMC,Commissioner Sideswar Baliram Bondar Sub Collector, Berhampur Keerthi Vasan V. and a large number of officers and forest staff, members of forest societies and citizens were present on the occasion.
