Heat wave: Odisha govt announces early summer vacation from April 25

Bhubaneswar : Owing to the intense heatwave conditions across Odisha, the State Government today declared early summer vacation in all schools.

As per the decision, the summer vacations will begin from April 25. 

However, morning classes will be conducted in government, government-aided and private schools from 6:30 am to 10:30 am till April 24.

Meanwhile, Odisha reeled under intense heat wave with Jharsuguda and Keonjhar becoming the hottest place in the state recording 43.6 degree Celsius today.

They were followed by Hirakud and Rourkela with 41.8 degree Celsius. The capital city Bhubaneswar witnessed 41.6 degree Celsius.

The Met department predicted that day temperature is very likely to be 40 degree Celsius or above at many places of interior Odisha and above normal by 3 to 5 degree Celsius over some districts during next 2 days.

However, the weather department further predicted scattered to isolated rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty surface wind are very likely to occur over the districts of Odisha within next 3-4 days.
