Hardened Criminal Opens Fire at Police in Jungle

Berhampur, Oct 7: An antisocial has evaded police arrest after firing on the police personnel in Berhampur on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Kuna, who is the most wanted for Berhampur police who has a long criminal background.

According to the Digapahandi police, intelligence revealed that hardened criminal Kuna was hidding inside a forest near Chadheyaghar village.

Acting on the tip-off, a special team of police conducted a combing operation in the forest. Meanwhile, Kuna opened fire at the police and fled away from the spot.

Subsequently, police reached Kuna’s secret den and seized 9mm live ammunition 3 rounds,8  rounds of SBML live ammunition,2 SMBL  Guns,one Vivo Mobile phone, one pocket diary, one money purse having cash Rs.500/-,Two nos head mounted night vision torchlight,5 rounds of empty cash of 9mm ammunition, Remnants of exploded Bombs.

Kuna is involved in a number of NDPS, rioting, and poaching cases. Police are in his frantic search as more than 25 cases have been lodged against him, said Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra. 

A team of officers and Jawans under the leadership of IIC Digapahandi conducted a raid in the forested village of Chadheyaghar to apprehend hardened criminal. History- sheeter Kuna Behera who has more than 25 cases against him. He is wanted in many heinous crimes such as attempt to murder, dacoity,NDPS cases and terrorised the villagers of forested area he added.
