GUTKHA WORTH 15 LAKH SEIZED IN BERHAMPUR

BERHAMPUR: Sadar Police team led by IIC Mahendra Sahu today seized a huge amount of Gutkha in, Packing plant & machinery being illegally manufactured and stored in a isolated house at Shreema Nagar , 5th lane , Lochapada,Berhampur.
Acting on a tip-off, the Berhampur Sadar Police conducted a raid in the house after receiving concrete information of their own source and seized as many as 20 bags containing gutkha Mawa Masala packets.
On prior information regarding the trade, Sadar police intercepted arrested
Two accuse persons.
They were indetified as Shankar Kumar Sahu ( 42 yrs )of village New Kalu Patra Sahi , Badabazar , PS presently :
Shreema Nagar , 5th lane , Lochapada , under Sadar Police station limitand Kailash Sahu ( 39 yrs ) of Village Haridakhandi , Tota Sahi ,under Badabazar PS at present Ankushpur.
Superitendent of Police,Berhampur Mr Saravana Vivek,M, told, ,on Tuesday (23.08.2022) around 01.00 P.M. on receipt of reliable information regarding illegally manufacturing and selling of Gutkha in a house of Srimaa Nagar , 5th Line , Lochapada , Berhampur police conducted raid and on spot found the two persons manufacturing the Guthka.
During raid both of them failed to produce any license or authority to manufacture such Gutkha and both of them also admitted that they were illegally manufacturing Gutkha and selling them in different areas for wrongful gain . Conducted the search and found huge quantities of finished Gutkha in Pouch , raw materials like Tabacco leaf , coriander , Pan Madhuri , white lime , Chua , empty Polythine pack of different brands , Rills of different brands , weighing machine , mixture machine , packing machine and Stitching machine etc. Gutkha items , packing machine and stitching machine were seized and both the accused persons were arrested . Collected sample from the seizure items in presence of witnesses for chemical examination.
During enquiry it was ascertained that Sankar Kumar Sahu and Kailash Sahu were illegally manufactured the said Gutkha and transporting to other places for sale . The above noted accused persons were apprehended and during interrogation , they confessed that they were running the said manufacturing unit of the Gutkha at said place since few months.,Vivek further added.
