GST fraud in Rourkela has took the city in National News

ROURKELA: Rourkela is an industrial city and a city with peaceful activities never positioned itself in any national news for any fraud but now the multi-crore GST fraud has given enough bad fame since last few months. For more than a year time we have seen many GST frauds that to from Rourkela and a new chapter is attached where GST fraud amount is more than Rs.262 crores. National investigating agencies including many senior officers have camped in Rourkela to unfold the racket and to arrest the accused. Finally they manage to arrest Santosh Gupta (45) the key manipulator and the mastermind of this mega fraud in Basanti Colony, Rourkela.
Already 11 other accused have been arrested. Accused, Santosh Gupta is the native of BL Block of Basanti Colony and was having it office in civil Township for his company M/s. Pacific Packaging. He was operating from this office and after finding fraudulence activities GST official have raided his office in February and had seized many forged documents including sale & Purchase register, GST log-in ID of different companies, digital signature certificates, bank documents of different business houses, bank statement and invoices. Since then GST authorities have kept close view on this man and its activities and finally they have raided his residence and arrested. After interrogation they also found he was operating another 10 dummy firms which are not having any existence.
All these he has been doing to dupe huge money from the Govt. and have brought bad repute for this city. Few days back GST special authorities had traced another GST scam where 56 crores of GST fraud was done in the name of Ms. Lingaraj Trading where office was shown in Mohapatra Market Complex in Jagda, Rourkela but when they investigated they didn’t find any such offices there. Most shocking part is they made one tea seller as mall owner and Kartik Kamila as owner of Lingaraj Trading where this person doesn’t exist at all.. Perhaps these miscreants have used their id proof to do false documents in their names. They even used documents of few MBA students for this fraud. GST authorities form both State and Centre are investigating this matter and none is traced yet and all of them are on run. Every people of Rourkela are in a shock how cum this big frauds are happening and none is able to trace them in between.Much more new revelation to come in coming time as investigation progresses.
