Gandhiji’s contribution is great but Netaji’s is much more: Suparno Satpathy

Cuttack: Delivering the 1st of the SNSMT lecture series, noted socio-political leader, SNSMT Chairman and lead member of Netaji movement Shri. Suparno Satpathy gave out many important yet less known facts about the deep connection of Cuttack, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhiji, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the independence of India from British Raj. The said lecture was on ‘Who got independence for India / Bharat ? Gandhiji or Netaji’.

Birth anniversary homage were paid to Gandhiji as well as to Shastriji as both share the date. 

9, Pithapur of Cuttack in year 1932 used to be the headquarter (HQ) of Netaji’s close associate, founder member of Communist Party in Orissa and India’s freedom struggle martyr Legendary Shri. Bhagabati Charan Panigrahi. The said address in year 1972 used to be the HQ of the then Chief Minister of Orissa legendary Smt. Nandini Satpathy. This small size property yet an iconic address is where the SNSMT lectures are scheduled to be held on the 2nd day of each month.

Several who’s who attended the lecture on 2nd of October ‘23. In his lecture, Shri. Suparno Satpathy spoke about Netaji mystery and how it is connected to Cuttack. He also deliberated on the lesser known mammoth contributions of legendary Smt. Nandini Satpathy for Odisha / India as well as for Netaji’s Azad Hind veterans. Several lesser known facts such as the custodial death of Legendary Shri. Bhagabati Charan Panigrahi during British Raj, about why the mortal ashes of Gandhiji were kept in a locker of State Bank of India in Cuttack till year 1993, about Shri. Biju Patnaik’s Dakota plane along with it’s possible involvement in the massacre of thousands of INA or Azad Hind soldiers during the last war of India’s independence which was fought in July 1944 at Moirang and why the Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal was chosen to be inaugurated on 16 Sept. 

The audience were awestruck after the hour long superbly delivered lecture. Volunteers of SNSMT have confirmed that the said lecture had been video graphed and the same shall soon be released on the official Facebook page of Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT)
