Gajapati rains: Villages marooned – Houses Destroyed by Flash Flood

Paralakhemundi-Due to continuous rain more houses destroyed at Kujasing panchayat. At Kujasing, Nuasahi, Adhei, Gira 10 houses destroyed. If rainfall goes on more will be victimised that terrorizing local people.At Vanshadhara water level receding to 53.80,where about to reach danger level 54.60.In district total rainfall is 303.60 where avarage is 37.95 by 8am today covered all 7 blocks & Paralakhemundi.

BERHAMPUR:  Several remote villages of Mohana block in Gajapati district have been cut off from the mainland after overflowing Gadapur river inundated a bridge near Papeju village. Following fresh rains on Thursday, Gadapur, a tributary of Vansadhara river, submerged the bridge under three feet water, severing communication between the villages and the outside world.

Car floated at Gandahati waterfall

Visitors on Saturday came to Gandahati waterfall. Meanwhile due to lack of control came across a bridge & slipped at canal. Fortunately nobody injured. As information received from border Andhrapradesh by a car visited the spot. But ditched by dashing with bridge to 10 feet ground level. IIC of Garabandha Sarbeswar Samantray visited the spot & rescued those visitors. Enquiry is going on such untowards incident.

In view of the situation, the district administration has directed officials of Rural Development department to visit the affected areas. Assistant engineer said rains in the upper catchment area of the river led to a rise in the water level. Steps are being taken to restore road communication to the affected villages but it will take some time.
