Gajapati Assembly Election:Paralakhemundi Begged BJD & Mohana with Congress
Paralakhemundi : A unique difference found on recent Assembly Election at Gajapati district, where Paralakhemundi BJD candidate Rupesh Kumar Panigrahi trounced BJP candidate KNarayan Rao by 4107 votes.Rupesh Kumar Panigrahi got 55126 where KNararayan Rao got 51019.This indeed stumbling block for both BJP & from Congress party where Retd. Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik stood, who too fought hard at ground level & gained third position with more than 30000 votes.A stalwart Tirupati Panigrahi who stood last time as Independent candidate by depriving Congress ticket, still got second position with more than 20000 votes. This time his son Rupesh Kumar Panigrahi got BJD ticket & had whirlwind campaign since last 2 years affirmed his recognition. That indeed a plus point to garner massive votes to win the seat.
Similarly seating MLA of Mohana Dasarathi Gamango too steered his campaign despite BJD wave where in all 7 blocks & Zilla Parishad PRI election completely sweeped but this factor not revived rather voters who is who streamlined to choose him.He defeated his nearest BJP candidate Prasant Kumar Mallick of BJP by 4281 votes, where BJD Antaryami Gamango stood third position. This time voters of their choice proved volatility, despite continued campaign of all major parties.
