Bhubaneswar:Economic Offences Wing, Bhubaneswar had arrested two fraudsters

namely Sabita Das of Rahama, Jagatsinghpur, At/Pr.Khannagar, Cuttack and Aditya Sahoo of Manjaripada, Athagarh on 04.03.2023 in EOW PS Case No.08 dt.02.03.2023 U/s 419/420/467/468/471/120-B IPC. Details of which was shared in our last press note.

Further, Investigation revealed that one Harish Kumar of Gurgaon, NCR could have been duped from the accused Aditya Sahoo towards the purchase of the aforementioned land in the name of Rangalata Swain being negotiated for Rs.3 Crores. The fraudster Aditya Sahoo had sent all land related documents through WhatsApp of Harish Kumar and for which Mr Harish Kumar had sent an advance amount of Rs.50,000/- through PhonePay. However, the victim Harish Kumar was restraint to move forward with the deal after he got the said land papers verified by his lawyer in Cuttack and found them to be fraudulent.

In another case, the accused Aditya Sahoo had deceived one Har Prasad Srichandan working as Havildar in SS Battalion, Commissionerate Police,Bhubaneswar. In this regard an agreement towards the sale of the land was executed between accused Aditya Sahoo on behalf of fake Rangalata Swain & Ipsita Srichandan, wife of Har Prasad Srichandan in the year 2022, in Bhubaneswar Court. An amount of Rs.2 Lakhs was handed over in cash by the victim Har Prasad Srichandan to the fraudster Aditya Sahoo as advance. This gang could be involved in many other such cases which are being scrutinized by EOW and action would be initiated in all such cases.

CAUTION/ APPEAL

Whoever has approached Aditya Sahoo or Sabita Das in connection with land purchase or selling please contact our investigating officer as it is possible that they might have been duped. They use fake documents like residence, Aadhar, death certificate etc.

It is also emphasized that Aadhar card must be verified whenever suspicion

arises. It can easily be done by following methods.

1. Age Band, Gender, State and the last 3 digits of mobile of an Aadhar holder can

be verified by visiting https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/verifyAadhaar .All that a

person needs to do is enter the Aadhar number.

2. A QR code is put on every Aadhar card. This QR code comprises the Aadhar

number holder’s name, gender, date of birth, and address, as well as a photograph. The QR code can be read using the Aadhar QR scanner app, which is available on Google Play and the App Store.
