“Field Day Program”conducted by ICAR-RCER, Patna at Nawada, Bihar under DST-SEED Project

Patna : CAR RCER, Patna conducted a “Field Day Program” for the farmers at Pandey Bigha village of Meskaur block and Janhaul village of Sirdala block of Nawada district in Bihar. The activity was conducted under the Department of Science and Technology-SEED (DST – SEED) project entitled as “Sustainable Improvement in Livelihood of Scheduled Caste Community in Meskaur and Sirdala Blocks of Nawada Districts, Bihar”under the joint aegis of Government of India, under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP). In this program, a total of 50 farmers were present.Dr. Dheeraj Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist, ICAR-RCER, Patnabriefed about the importance of modern technologies in agriculture and discussed the role of agricultural technologies for farmers livelihood improvement. Dr. Santosh Kumar, Senior Scientist ICAR-RCER, Patna discussed in detail about rice varieties like Swarna Shreya, Swarna Purvi 2, Swarna Samriddhi, and Swarna Unnat. He told the farmers about the importance of these varieties in the climate stress conditions. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Senior Scientist of Agronomy, ICAR-RCER, Patnadiscussed the methods of cultivation with suitable field management practices for rice cultivation.  Further, he also discussed with the farmers about pigeon peas, ground nuts, mustard and wheat, their methods of cultivation, management and precaution measures. Rohit Kumar, project associate of ICAR-RCER, Patna coordinated the program.
