FAMOUS GANESH PUJA BEGINS WITH ENTHUSIASM IN TALCHER

TALCHER (DHIRAMOHAN RAY) : The famous Talcher Ganesh Puja begins from today. It will be celebrated for 11 days. The immersion festival will be held on 7th of September. The black diamond city has turned into a festive mood for the puja and has taken on a new look with the colorful lights adorning the high lighting gate. This time, more than 100 Ganesh idols are being worshiped in different puja pandals in the the city. Since there is a possibility of huge crowd during the puja,extensive preparations have been made by the Talcher police to control the law and order situation. CCTV cameras have been installed at every puja pandals and around 8 platoons of police force are deployed in the city. The puja is being held under the supervision of Central Ganesh Puja Committee President and Talcher Sub Collector Sameer Kumar Jena.

From Handidhua to Badadand Sahi in Talcher, a length of 5 km, the idol of Lord Gajanan is adorned with small and large pandanls. Many people visit the city for the worship. Different types of fancy shops, various types of dolis and many types of food stalls have opened. The Central Ganesh Committee has made arrangements for cultural programs in every evening at Talcher College Grounds. Heavy police deployment has been made on the main roads and near puja pandals and traffic control has been tightened. The Talcher SDPO Bharat Chandra Sahoo has informed that the police administration is vigilant to keep a close watch on the anti-social elements. The Civil Defence volunteers and St. John’s Ambulance team have camped at various places to provide first aid services. A public information center has been opened at Hatatota main road and Police has issued a route map for the convenience of pilgrims.
