FAKE DOCTOR HELD FOR DEFRAUDING LOAN IN BHUBANESWAR

Bhubaneswar: Police today arrested a youth, identifying himself as a doctor in AIIMS Bhubaneswar, on charges of defrauding Rs 17.5 lakh loan from a bank in Nayapalli area. The accused has been identified as Siddhartha Swayam Rout (25) a resident of Paikasahi under Gopalpur PS in Cuttack Sadar.
According to a press note, Jogendranath Nayak, Chief Manager of Bank of Baroda- Nayapalli Branch, had lodged a written complaint alleging about the loan fraud. On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case and initiated a probe.
During the course of investigation, it was ascertained that accused Siddhartha Swayam Rout had cheated the bank by identifying himself as a doctor in AIIMS, Bhubaneswar and producing forged salary slips along with forged bank account statements at the bank while availing a car loan of Rs 17 lakh and 50 thousand. He also purchased a luxury car (KIA Seltos), the press note mentioned.
Reportedly, the police have seized the car, some forged salary slips from the accused and also produced him before the Court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Bhubaneswar today.
The police have prayed the court to grant a 15-day remand of the accused for further investigation into the case. The police also urged the court not to grant bail to the accused as he may tamper with the evidence by terrorising the complainant and witnesses or may not appear before the court during the hearing.
