Exhibition cum Workshop on Management Process of Sea Turtles inaugurated by Collector,Ganjam

Ganjam:On Wednesday a district level meeting cum workshop was conducted at Zilla Parisad, Rushikulya Conference Hall of DRDA, Ganjam.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Chairmanship of Sri.Vijay Amruta Kulange, Collector Ganjam and co- chaired by Sri. Brijesh Rai, Superintendent of Police, Ganjam, Sri Shinde Dattatraya Bhausaheb, PD DRDA, Ganjam, Sri. Keerthi Vasan V, Sub- Collector, Berhampur and Sri. Amlan Nayak, Divisional Forest Officer, Berhampur.
At the outset an exhibition of the management process of sea turtles was inaugurated by the Collector, Ganjam in presence of other guests and the invitees moved around in the picture and model gallery.
After the round a meeting was held with the stakeholders regarding the issues to be tackled in keeping on view in the present nesting season with management of tourist, traffic, parking etc in mass nesting areas of Gokharkuda, Podampeta etc.
There was a workshop after the meeting in which eminent scientists, NGOs WWF and Dakshin Foundation, stakeholders gave their deliberations on various topics on Conservation of Sea Turtles.Other dignitaries from the district who participated are Sri. Anil Mohapatra, Scientist, Zoological Survey of India, Dr. A. K. Sahu, Scientist, ICZMP (SPMU), Sri. Chandan Jani, Wildlife Expert, Tahsildar Ganjam, Divisional Forest Officer, Chilika Wildlife Division, Representative of Regional Pollution Control Board, District Tourist officer, District Education Officer, Executive Engineer PWD- I &II, Superintending Engineer, TPSODL, Asst. Director of Fisheries, Ganjam, Representative of Chief District Veterinary Officer, Representative of Hotel and restaurant Association of Odisha, Representatives from IREL, Grasim, Tata Steel, Gopalpur Port, Representative of the Commanding Officer, Indian Coast Guard. Representatives from fishermen associations who are involved in the process of Management of mass nesting viz.Rushikulya Sea Turtle Protection Society, Purunabandha, Maa Gangadevi Yubak Sangha, Odisha Traditional Fish Workers Union, Kishna Binchanapalli, Radhakrishna Yubak Sangh also participated in the meeting.
