Ex- Sarpanch gets 2 yrs RI for misappropriation of govt. money
Berhampur, (Odishabarta): A Vigilance Court in Berhampur awarded two years of Rigorous Imprisonment to a former Sarpanch for misappropriation of govt. money.
The accused, who has been identified as Dimidi Rama Rao, Sarpanch of Kidigaon gram panchayat under Kashinagar block in Gajapati district was earlier charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance for misappropriation of Government money by falsely showing expenditure under different heads in connection with execution of two projects during the year 2009-10 under MGNREG Scheme.
For this offence, the Court has sentenced him to years RI and find of Rs 5000. In default of fine, Rao has to undergo RI for 3 months more.
