Ex-MLA of Paralakhemundi Bijay Jena Passed Away

Paralakhemundi-Gajapati lost another veteran leader.He was Bijay Kumar Jena.He had a fatal heart stroke & lost his last breath yesterday night.Belonged to Gurandi of Gosani block, started as Sarpanch of Gurandi panchayat as unbeatable candidate for long run. Later on he elected as block Chairman of Gosani block. On 1977 he won as MLA as Independent candidate by a thin margin among 4 other candidates. On 1980 bye-election he again re-elected as same Independent candidate till 1985.His contributions hailed like establishment of Gurandi College, upgradation of Wannapuri irrigation structure at Kashinagar block.
Besides that as farmers leader always purforth his demand on their woes. Particularly to link Mahendratanaya with Krushnasagar he strived hard till his death by meeting departmental authorities regularly. For Dombapur project he too showed his stewardship to revive time to time before state administration.
Gajapati lost a unique leader, moreso people’s leader. His untimely demise hurt his fellow beings. On his death MP Chandrasekhar Sahu, MLA Paralakhemundi KNarayanrao,Utkal Sammelani Vice President Purnachandra Mahapatra, educationist Gourachandra Panda, District Farmers association President Suryanarayan Patnaik, Binod Chandra Jena Odisha Sahitya Academy Member Bichitrananda Bebarta conveyed their condolences to bereaved family & paid tribute to departed Soul. He left 6 sons & 3 daughters & other kiths & kins. He was 85.
