ESSENTIAL SERVICES CABLE-TV, TELEPHONE, ELECTRICITY, WATER SUPPLY NOT BE DISCONTINUED

Bureau,Odishabarta

All essential services like cable-TV, telephone, electricity, water and credit-cards must not be discontinued for non-payment of bills during lock-down period

DELHI:Central government and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) should direct all those concerned in private and public sector not to discontinue any essential service like of cable-TV, electricity, water, telephone etc for non-payment of bills during the lock-down period, because there is no way by which payment of these bills can be made by those who pay it physically.

Likewise payments towards credit-cards may also be deferred till lock-down period that too without any penal-charges or interest because of absence of any provision for payment of dues for those who pay dues through cheques or cash. However banks may have discretion to block the card after last date of payment.

However this special facility of deferring payment may be there only for lock-down period since service-providers also need funds to provide services, and purpose of seeking deferment is of practical difficulty of payment and not seeking any extended credit-facility.
