EOW arrested accused Bikramjit Bhowmik of Rose Valley Group of Chit Fund Case

Bhubaneswar: The special expert team of Economic Offences Wing, Bhubaneswar has arrested accused Bikramjit Bhowmik of East Midnapur (West Bengal) on 02.08.2021 from Midnapur in EOW PS Case No.15 of 2013 registered against Rose Valley Group of Chit-fund companies.
Accused Bikramjit Bhowmik was produced before the CJM, Tamluk on Monday (02.08.2021) and will be produced before the Hon’ble Court of OPID, Balasore Tuesday, being brought on transit remand.
The instant case was registered by taking over investigation of Soro, Balasore PS Case No. 182 dt. 10.05.2013 U/s 420/120 B/34 IPC r/w 4, 5&6 of the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act 1978, which was registered against the Chairman, Directors and officials of Rose Valley Group of Company for collecting public deposits of crores of rupees. Subsequently, on 28.05.2013, EOW, CID, CB, Bhubaneswar took charge of investigation of the case by registering EOW PS FIR No. 15 of 2013. During investigation, it was revealed that the aforementioned accused persons had collected multi crores of rupees from several investors of Odisha with false promise of payment of high rate of interest.
Investigation so far revealed that Rose Valley Group of companies are registered with ROC, Kolkata. Initially, the company was collecting public deposits for its construction company, but since 2010 collections were made against different money circulation schemes, by opening its branch offices in different parts of West Bengal and Odisha including a branch office at Soro, Balasore. It has been ascertained that Rose valley Group of companies have collected multi crores of rupees from the depositors of all over Odisha.
The company cheated the investors by duping an amount of Rs. 2.82 crores approx. Involving numerous investors in Soro branch. The present accused Bikramjit Bhowmik was the Regional Manager of the Rose Valley Group of companies of Odisha Region.He had absconded since registration of the case, evading police arrest.
Earlier in this case accused persons namely, Gouatam Kundu & Sibamoy Dutta,the Chairman & Managing Directors respectively of the Rose Valley Group of Companies have been remanded in this case. Further, accused Badal Chandra Kar who was the Branch Manager of Soro Branch of accused Company has been arrested and forwarded to court.
Bank balance to the tune of more than Rs. 83 crores as well as land & building having value of more than Rs. 11 crores in the name of Rose Valley Group of Companies have been attached under the provision of section 3 OPID Act, 2011. Earlier four charge-sheets have been filed in this case by EOW, Bhubaneswar against the accused persons arrested earlier as well as against the accused Company. The same are sub-judice in the court of Presiding Officer under OPID Act,Balasore.The investigation of the case is continuing.
