Elder Brother Held for Killing Younger in Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: A family quarrel in Gajapati district turned fatal on Sunday night when a man allegedly killed his younger brother during a heated fight.
The incident took place at Karanjakua village under Mohana police station limits. Police identified the deceased as Libu Mallik, an autorickshaw driver, and detained his elder brother, Gobinda Mallik, for questioning.
According to reports, Libu returned home drunk and allegedly assaulted his wife, Rajani. Gobinda intervened to stop the violence, leading to a scuffle between the brothers. The fight escalated, and Libu reportedly died on the spot.
Rajani later told police that her husband often drank and beat her, and that Gobinda had stepped in to protect her. She lodged a police complaint after the incident.
Police seized the body and launched an investigation. Locals said the brothers frequently clashed over domestic disputes. Further inquiry is underway to establish the exact sequence of events.
