Eight Critical In Rourkela Steel Plant Gas Leak, Hospitalised

Rourkela: Eight persons were taken ill after a suspected gas leak in blast furnace no. 5 in Rourkela Steel Plant on Monday.
They were admitted to the Ispat General Hospital immediately. The reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained.
Carbon monoxide is known as a “silent killer” as it is poisonous, acutely toxic, and potentially lethal in certain doses. It is also extremely flammable and classified as a health hazard. It can cause illness, hospitalisation, and death. Because it has no odour or colour, it often goes undetected, striking unsuspecting victims in sleep or states of drunkenness.
