EFFORTS BY PREM FOR SUPPORT OF PANDEMIC AFFECTED MIGRANTS

BERHAMPUR:PREM ,a Voluntary organisation based at Berhampur has been taking continuous efforts during the threats posed by COVID-19 pandemic to save precious human lives and to restore the livelihood of the poor migrant workers coming from different states. Earlier , PREM, in collaboration with Ajzim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives did provide kits of mask, soap, dry food & sanitary items to 1600 migrantfamilies from Goudagotha and Asurbandha Panchayats of Surada block of Ganjam District .In addition ,PREM took steps for the proper implementation of the Government Programme ’SUGAM’ with the support of the District Administation,Ganjam for the returnee migrants providing dry foods, cooked foods and water bottles etc at the Mandiapalli bus stop on the National Highway .
Moreover, PREM with the support of United Nations Population Fund,Odisha State Office, Bhubaneswar supplied kits containing a bucket,mug,towel,soaps and mask to 3831 householdsof 112 villages belonging to the particularly vulnerable tribal groups of eight panchayats under K.Singipur,Bismcuttak , Muniguda and Gunupur blocks of Rayagada District and supplied 3169 kits to 70 number PVTG villages of Mohana Block of Gajapati District .Besides,PREM came forward also to join the Mission Anna Seva of Reliance Foundation and provided 1500 ration kits to the migrants and marginal labourers of nine panchayats of Dharakote,Patrapur,Kukudakhandi,Seragada and Chikiti Blocks of Ganjam District during this pandemic period. The philanthropists and the intellectuals around make a high praise of PREM for these noble and commendable initiatives.
