DUTEE CHAND RECIVED ARJUN AWARD TODAY FOR THE YEAR 2020 ON SPORTS DAY FROM HON’BLE PRESDENT OF INDIA

ROURKELA:One of the finest ever athlete ever produced by Odisha is Dutee Chand and compared with other two athletes of Odisha who gained much reputation in track and field and they are Rachita Panda and Anuradha Biswal. But Dutee Chand stands tall among these two despite having a short height of 5.11 inch.The smallest wonder who has been doing wonders. Today on sports day she was awarded with the prestigious Arjun Award in a vdo conferencing celebration and this prestigious award was given by the none other our Hon’ble President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind. Dutee Chand hails from a poor family and her sister Saraswati Chand is also an athlete. She had been struggled a lot for different reasons but every time she came strong after a strong hurdle. In 2014 she was targeted by reasons of hyperandrogenim and had fought a long battle but finally she won this battle after she appealed the highest body court of Arbitration for Sports. In her achievement she had achieved a lot and out of those few great performances were achieving gold medal in 100 meters in Universiade, 2019. She has also got Silver medal in Asian Games in Jakarta. She is the third woman to ever qualify for the Women’s 100 meters event in Summer Olympic Games. She achieved Silver medal in 200meter in Jakarta,2018, Bronze medal in 100 meter in Asian championship in Bhubaneswar,2017, Bornze Medal in 200 meter in 2019 in Doha, Silver medal in 100 meter in South Asian Games in 2016 in Guwahati. She had become national champion in 100 meter and 200 meters. There are many other achievements in his basket and her latest wish is to bring a medal in Olympics for India. She was born in 3rd February, 1996 to Chakradhar Chand and Akhuji Chand in Jajpur District,Odisha. She is a pride of our country and we are glad that we are having such a beautiful talent in Odisha can bring many more glory in track and field in coming time.
