DUAL-SWORD STRATEGY NECESSARY TO REVIVE MTNL AND BSNL GIVING MIDDLE-INCOME BIG RELIEF

DELHI:Central Government should study business-model of private operator Reliance-Jio to revive public-sector MTNL and BSNL simultaneously giving much-demanded big relief to mobile-users during corona crisis.
Demands have continuously been made for some big practical relief to people of middle-income group during corona-crisis. If a new entrant Reliance Jio making fresh heavy investments on setting up a complete infrastructure can provide introductory-packages of telephone-service especially mobile-phone service at throw-away prices, MTNL and BSNL having full-fledged infrastructure have opportunity to woo customers of private operators including Reliance-Jio, Airtel, Vodaphone and others to switch over to MTNL and BSNL by offering completely free mobile and landline telephone-service till December 2020, that too as part of economic relief package towards corona crisis.
Alternatively, MTNL and BSNL can be merged to enter into partnership with some leading private operator conditionally to offer free service to their existing customers till December 2020 together with complete waiver of arrears at least of lockdown period also to save heavy loss to public-exchequer by these public-sector units which nowhere stand in competition to private operators.
