DRM appointed for New Rayagada Railway Division under East Coast Railway

Rayagada (Badal Tah): Just after one day of laying the foundation stone for Rayagada Railway Division, which is the 70th railway division in the country, by PM Modi on virtual mode in the presence of CM Mohan Majhi and other dignitaries in Rayagada, appointment of a new DRM is a vital step to operationalize the new division and to accelerate the infrastructure development focussing on Southern Odisha’s tribal and aspirational districts including Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Kalahandi for expedited railway network development. “Though Koraput MP requested the Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu to appoint an OSD to accelerate the process of establishing the Division, Modi’s instant action will go a long way”, opined Shyam Kumar Dash, a youth leader of the district.. 
 
“This is a transformative initiative to boost economic growth, connectivity and employment opportunities in South Odisha’s tribal belt. It will improve railway services to enhance access to markets, healthcare and education for local communities. The new division will enhance connectivity and infrastructure development to boost tourism in Southern Odisha’s scenic and culturally rich regions positioning Odisha as a key travel destination”, said Bittu, State Miniter of Railways, GOI during the foundation laying ceremony at Rayagada.
 
RM, East Coast Railway said, “The creation of the Rayagada Railway Division is expected to significantly accelerate both train operations and infrastructure development in these vital areas. Posting of new DRM is an important step forward to ensure expedited execution of the divisional headquarters and to ensure the fast-tracked development of railway infrastructure in the region. This initiative will have a transformative impact on the tribal belt of South Odisha, boosting regional economic growth, improving connectivity with local industries and providing substantial employment opportunities. With improved railway services, the local communities will experience enhanced access to markets, healthcare and education, leading to a better quality of life.”
 
“These routes pass through scenic areas known for lush greenery, waterfalls, and tribal heritage, with the Koraput-Rayagada section offering stunning views of the Eastern Ghats. The region is expected to attract both national and international tourists. It will boost the market for Koraput coffee & turmeric and support Agro-based industries”, said DRM, Waltair Division.
 
According to Nityanand Gond, Minister of Tribal Affairs, Govt of Odisha, “The establishment of the Rayagada Railway Division will play a pivotal role in advancing tourism, economic development and infrastructural growth in Odisha. The enhanced railway network will not only improve connectivity for local industries but also transform the region into a major economic hub. This project is set to contribute significantly to the overall progress of the nation by enhancing connectivity in the aspirational districts, promoting tourism, and fostering the growth of the region.”
