Driving under the influence of alcohol (drunk driving) and triple riding on a two-wheeler are both illegal and dangerous practices in, with potential penalties for offenders. Drunk driving carries fines ranging from Rs.10,000 to Rs.15,000 and/or imprisonment for up to two years, depending on the severity and frequency of the offense. Triple riding on a two-wheeler is also a violation of traffic rules and can result in fines and other penalties, including license suspension.

BERHAMPUR,(12/06/25):The Berhampur Police intensified its drive against drunken driving under “Safe City Drive” in Berhampur
The Drive against Drunken driving & Triple Riding – 73 violations detected in 2 days – 26 Drunken driving , 47 Triple riding & other violations by Berhampur Police.In a drive against Drunken driving & Triple riding ,in a collective manner all police stations of Berhampur Police district conducted special drive for the last two days. 10 June & 11 June.
During the special drive 26 persons were caught driving consuming alcohol more than the permissible limit. Criminal cases were registered against these riders and their vehicles have been seized.
Similarly drive against triple riding and using mobile phone while riding was conducted simultaneously. A total of 47 such violations were detected. Criminal cases have been registered and the vehicles have been seized.
In the 2 days alone, Traffic Police detected 9 drunken driving cases , Badabazar PS detected 5 drunken driving cases , Town Police station detected 4 drunken driving cases , Jarada PS 3 drunken driving cases and Digapandi PS 2 drunken driving cases.
