Drive against the Wild Life Crime and Criminals by STF

Bhubaneswar:On the basis of reliable information, STF team conducted a raid with the help of Angul Forest officials near Antulia under Angul Forest Division, District: Angul about a deal of sale of Elephant Tusk by wild life criminals on 26.10.2021, as a result of which one accused person namely Sudar Naik S/o. Late Gaya Naik of Hatasiunali, Ranibandha PS. Thakurgarh Dist. Angul was apprehended. During search, 01 (One) Elephant Tusk and other incriminating materials were seized from his possession. The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of Elephant Tusk, for which he has been detained and handed over to forest officials for necessary legal action at their end. Investigation is on.
During last one year, Special drive against the wildlife criminals/poachers have been launched, STF has seized as many as 18 nos Leopard skin, 10 nos Elephant Tusk, 02 deer skin, 05 live pangolin and 15 kg pangolin scales and arrested 37 wild life criminals.
STF is the specialized wing of Odisha Police to curb the organized crime in the State. Wild life crimes remain the one of the focus area of STF and STF will continue its drive against the wild life crime and criminals
