Drive against Drug heats up in Berhampur

BERHAMPUR:A crackdown against narcotics is under way in Berhampur.The Police district has been proposed for cops of all police stations for taking part in the drive.
The drive began from last couple of days in city by the strict instruction of SP, Berhampur, Pinak Mishra and will last till removal of Mafias.
ASP Prabhat Routray said, the police teams across the police district have been directed make preventive arrests of people who have involved drugs-related trades.
During special drive against narcotics Wednesday early morning while Sub Inspector Bibhuti Bhusan Sethi, ASI, Gopal Padhy and others of Baidyanathpur Police station were performing night patrolling duty and the team detected one Sagar Muli of Ganesh Nagar, Old Berhampur who was caught raid handed while smuggling contraband Ganja in his own Hero Honda Splendour motor cycle without any registration number.
He was caught near sub-way road of Khodasingi Bridge. Total 28 kgs 450 Gms in two bags were recovered from his possession and seized. Police estimated the approximate cost of seized Ganja around one lakh.In this context, a case u/s 20(b)(ii)(c) NDPS act has been registered.
Ms Aanjali Behera is investigating and investigation is under progress. After the arrest of Sagar Mulli police found he has involved in series of criminal cases and excises cases and one of the Wanted Veteran Criminal and was in search long back.
We have also proposed an official tick so that this will motivate police to apprehend drug traffickers in the police district. he added.
