Dist admn callous to 1st ever visit of minister to Rayagada from Mohan Majhi Govt

Rayagada (Badal Tah) : No information was given to public by district administration about grievance hearing & redressal by Sri Krushna Chandra Patra, Minister of Food Suppliers, Consumer Welfare, Science & Technology Government of Odisha. DI&PRO informed the media in his WhatsApp group around 10 PM on the date of arrival of the minister on 26th though detailed tour programme reached to concerned govt authorities of Rayagada district administration on 25th. So there were a handful of millers, govt officials, working journalists and BJP party workers in the grievance held in the conference hall of Circuit House. Though one hour was scheduled for the public grievance hearing, it turned out to be sheer fiasco.

Patra arrived by road from Bhubaneswar and reached Rayagada late at night on last Thursday. “His visit by road reflected Mohan Govt’s claim that the CM is people’s CM and the present Govt is people’s Govt. Otherwise generally the ministers and bureaucrats of the previous govt used to visit this district in helicopters with a plea of either Naxalism or busy schedule causing huge loss to govt exchequer”, said Shyam Das, General Secretary of SAKSHAM, an organisation working for the empowerment of differently abled.

In the review meeting by the minister with the govt officials, the journalists were instructed by district administration to take photos before starting of the review meeting and debarred from being present in the conference room where the review was being held. This led to disgruntlement among the scribes. Some journalists were heard saying that even the govt changed, bureaucracy bore the same attitude as before.

As the planetarium and science park were virtually inaugurated by Ex-CM Naveen Pattanaik in a hurry burry before the recent general election, representatives of Rayagada Nagarika Manch(RNP) appealed to the Minister Patra through a memorandum to make these infrastructures functional in true spirit. Minister said that he would again come to Rayagada and personally inaugurate these two projects in a proper manner and make them working & people centred.

MITS Mega Food Park in Rayagada is the 1st food park to be established in entire Odisha during year 2017, where investments of around Rs.300 crores has been made; but not a single aspect has been fulfilled as promised by the food park authorities. When the representatives of RNM discussed about this with the Minister, he was taken aback and assured the members of RNM to review this project at Bhubaneswar in his ministry and take necessary action as deem fit.

The minister was felicitated by several civil society organisations at BJP party office at Siriguda. Patra’s visit was the 1st ever visit as a cabinet minister of Mohan Majhi Govt. Unfortunately, the district administration seemed to be in the cocoon of previous bureaucratic hegemony, opined a few denizens of Rayagada.
